Wilson is survived by her loving wife of 11 years, Rachel Aucoin. She is also survived by her father, Lyle Steven of Slidell; sister, Jan Steven Richardson of Ft Walton Beach, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Chris Wilson and Vera Bennett of Slidell; daughter and son-in-law Charlotte Wilson Gibson and Chris Gibson of Ashville, Ala.; grandchildren Gage and Page Gibson of Ashville, Ala.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins aunts and uncles. Wilson is predeceased by her, mother, Joy Steven; brothers, Lyle “Stevie” Steven and Charles Steven, and sister, Nancy Steven. Wilson was born in Union City, Tenn., but lived most of her life in Louisiana. She graduated from Slidell High School in 1966. She was a girl scout as a child and young woman and continued to donate to the organization her entire life. Wilson was a corpsman in the United States Navy and a Vietnam Veteran and was hired in 1988 to work at the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office as a criminal patrol deputy, where she made countless friends who became like family to her. She retired in 2003 at the rank of corporal. Wilson loved to travel and enjoyed the outdoors, loved to go hiking and camping, and enjoyed going to the casino to play the slot machines. She was also a sports fan and enjoyed attending and watching on TV football and women’s basketball. A memorial service will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 at Northshore Church, 310 Kensington Blvd, Slidell.
