HERBERT ‘SONNY’ J. BOURGEOIS, JR., of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, 
March 12, 2013 at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

Beloved father of Ross P. Bourgeois and Lucas M. Bourgeois.
Son of the late Herbert J. Bourgeois, Sr. and Camilla Keller LeJeune.
Brother of Joan Philibert and Judith Rizan.
Brother-in-law of Milton Rizan and the late Ray Philibert.
Also survived by 4 nieces and nephews; Troy Rizan (Michelle), Tracie Bates 
(Shay), Tammy Hendrix (Leslie), and Amanda Hellwig (Nelson); 8 grand nieces and 
nephews; and his dear family friend Michael Walsh.

Age 64 years.

A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Slidell, LA since 1985. Mr. 
Bourgeois was a retired Captain for the New Orleans Police Department, a member 
of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Northshore 912, and was a proud political 
activist. Sonny was a man of strong convictions, principals and bravery who had 
a tremendous sense of humor. He was a proud and loving father, brother, son, 
uncle and great uncle. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 
St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 58203 Hwy. 433, Slidell, LA 70460 on Saturday, 
March 16, 2013 at 12:00pm. Visitation will be at church from 10:00am until 
12:00pm. 

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell, LA.

Donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital are preferred, in lieu of flowers.
