Beloved husband for 64 years of Mary Lofton Collier. Father of Kathy Collier Welch (John), Wesley David Collier (Nancy) and Robert Lester Collier (Kellie). Grandfather of Sherry Welch Hammons (Ron), John David Welch (Julie), Kady, Zachary, Christopher, Virginia and Claire Collier. Great-grandfather of Trey, LeAnn and Catherine Hammons and John Luke Welch. Brother-in-law of Leroy Castleman. Brother of the late Virginia Castleman and Bernice Gilmore. Age 86 years. A native of Oakwood, TX and a resident of Covington, LA for the past 20 years. He was a Petroleum Geologist having worked in the industry for 60 years in Tyler, TX, Shreveport, LA and New Orleans, LA. He was a member of the New Orleans Geological Society and the American Association of Petroleum Geologist. He was a former member of Timberlane Country Club and the New Orleans Big Game Fishing Club. He was one of the original planners of Tchefuncta Estates and Country Club. He loved hunting, fishing and golf. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the R.O.B. Club. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial service from E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Visitation from 10:00 AM until service time. Inurnment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
