MERLIN FIRMIN DANNER, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 
his home surrounded with love by his nieces and nephews and his dogs, Suzy and 
Cuzy by his side.

He was known to everyone who loved him as “Uncle Merlin”. 
Uncle Merlin served in WWII in the South Pacific from 1942-1945. He was awarded 
2 Bronze Stars and 1 Bronze Arrowhead. He was an excellent Carpenter and worked 
for D.H. Holmes for 30 plus years until his retirement. 
He lived in New Orleans, LA for 62 years and then relocated to Slidell, LA to 
be closer to his nieces and nephews.
Uncle Merlin was a “simple man” who enjoyed simple life. He enjoyed gardening, 
growing, and jarring his own vegetables, and watching his birds.
He loved to watch Jeopardy and eat a banana sandwich every day. Uncle Merlin 
was a wise, frugal, self-disciplined man who adored his nieces and nephews. He 
has impacted each and every one of us in so many ways!

Beloved son of the late John J. Danner and Della Bradbury Danner.
Brother of the late Ernest Danner, John Danner, Warren Danner, Ethel Danner, 
and Myrtle Danner Byrd.
Brother-in-law of the late Hazel C. Danner.

Survived by special nieces and nephews; Warren J. Danner (Rose), Warren J. 
Danner, III (Carmen), Taylor and Logan Danner, Betsy Danner Gobuzzi (A.J.), 
Lauren Gobuzzi, Allison Gobuzzi, Lacy Danner Lagarde (Matt), Jack Lagarde, 
Jeanine Danner Glover (Brandon), Jennifer Glover Forrester (Allen), Stephen 
Glover, Wayne M. Danner (Elau), Donald F. Danner (Gay), and Emma Danner Orman 
(Walter) and many other nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), 
Slidell, LA on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 1:30pm. Visitation will be from 
11:30am until 1:30pm. 

Interment will follow in St. Roch Cemetery #2, New Orleans, LA.

Donations to: The St. Tammany Parish Animal Society is preferred, in lieu of 
flowers.
