Before leaving Georgia, she attended Valdosta State College. Preceded in death by her husband David Clinton Dixon, she leaves two much loved sons, Kenneth Richard Dixon of Hattiesburg, MS and Steven David Dixon, of Slidell, LA as well as two beloved daughters-in-law, Victoria Gassen Dixon and Colleen McKelvey Dixon. The love of her life was her four grandchildren, Amber Marie Dixon, David Paul Dixon and Mikhail Katau Dixon and Christian Robert Dixon. In a time when women were just beginning to enter the business world, Sandy became a successful real estate broker, co-owner and president of Distinctive Real Estate, Inc. for 22 years. She was most recently an associate broker with Distinctive Real Estate, Inc., providing her clients with the most professional advice and counsel. In 1997 she was chosen as Small Business Person of the Year for the Greater Metropolitan New Orleans area. A former Laubach adult tutor, she was also a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) and a board member of the Slidell Art League. In her younger years, Sandy was an avid scuba diver, and traveled extensively. A lover of reading and a member of The CLUB (Classy Ladies Understanding Books) she also enjoyed fishing, boating, bridge, art and watercolor painting. So patient, Sandy brought out the best in people, inspiring them to achieve more than they believed possible. A bit of a philosopher, she loved sharing her open-minded views with her friends. She was an angel to many people with a heart as big as all Louisiana, going out of her way to befriend anyone in need. She has finally gathered sufficient feathers to complete her angel wings! To say that she will be greatly missed is an understatement. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial gathering at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell, LA on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. A graveside service will follow at 3:00pm. Arrangements by Honaker Funeral Home, Inc., Slidell, LA. ===================
