John P. Matran, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the age of 75.

Beloved husband of 56 years to Joyce Stumpf Matran. Loving father of Di Smith, 
Janelle Matran, John Matran, Jr., Mickey Matran, Angel Hammack and the late 
Dawn Matran. Son of the late Margaret and Preston Matran. Brother of Madeline 
Robinson, JoAnna LeBlanc, Margaret Romaire, Rose Verneuil, Vivian Abadie, James 
Brandt Jr and Linda Baker. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 27 great-
grandchildren.

As a lifelong civil servant and pioneer to the La EMS system his efforts have 
gone on to save countless lives through the thousands of students to whom he 
shared his knowledge and expertise.

He will be missed by many.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on 
Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, 
Covington, LA 70433 at 11:00 AM with visitation on Monday evening from 6:00 PM 
until 9:00 PM and on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until Mass time.

Interment will follow in Crawford Memorial Cemetery.
