Frederick "Freddy" L. Schmidt passed away at his residence on Sunday, April 28, 
2013 at the age of 68. 

A native and long time resident of New Orleans and a resident of Madisonville 
for the past 13 years. Freddy was a retired member of the New Orleans Fire 
Department where he served for 18 years. 

He is the beloved husband of 42 years to Edah H. Schmidt, son of the late Carl 
and Miriam S. Schmidt, father of Elka Staley and husband Scott, Evan Schmidt, 
and Stefan Schmidt and wife Amy. 

He is survived by his half sister Jackie O'Reilly of California and one late 
brother Carl Schmidt. 
Grandfather of Brooke and Elise Schmidt. 

Freddy will also be missed by his faithful companions, his dog Mitzie and his 
two cats, Frankie and Nevelle.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
