Dunaway, Jr., 67, passed away on June 27, 2013 at his home in Slidell, Louisiana. He was born on August 26, 1945 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Clifton and Jane (Sharp) Dunaway. C.J. grew up in Slidell, Louisiana. He graduated from Slidell High School in Slidell, Louisiana in 1963. After high school he attended Southeastern University in Hammond, Louisiana. He began work for Dunaway's Grocery with his father where he worked for 40 years. In 1981 C.J. ran for police jury in St Tammany Parish where he held that office for three terms before being appointed commissioner of The New Orleans Expressway Commission. In 1998 he started C.D. Builders developing residential properties throughout Hammond and Baton Rouge. C.J. married his childhood sweetheart Judy Pike. They were happily married for 46 years. C.J. was a member of Thompson Road Baptist Church where he was a Deacon in training. He enjoyed working in his garden every year and sharing the rewards with his family and friends. C.J. was preceded in death by his parents C.J. Dunaway Sr. and Jane Sharp Dunaway, and his son Randall Kiley Dunaway. C.J. is survived by his spouse Judy of Slidell. Louisiana; his son C.J. (Jay) Dunaway Ill of New Orleans, Louisiana his brothers Glenn (Laura) Dunaway, Ronnie, and Tommy sisters Sandi (Mike) Harris and Patti (Steve) Hite. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 10:00am until 1:00pm. Services will begin at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Thompson Road Baptist Church, 59008 Hwy. 433, Slidell, LA. 70460.
