Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2013/st1307.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== The Reverend Monsignor Howard Henry Hotard died at Saint Tammany Parish Hospital on Friday morning, July 12, 2013. He was 87 years old. Son of the late Howard and Lillian Kennedy Hotard, Brother of the late Raymond Kennedy Hotard and his wife Mary Klein Hotard, Monsignor Hotard was born in Gretna on May 14, 1926 and served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He studied at Saint Joseph and Notre Dame Seminaries and was ordained to the priesthood on June 4, 1955. A faithful and dedicated priest of the Archdiocese of New Orleans for over 58 years, Monsignor Hotard served the people of God as an assistant pastor at St. Catherine of Siena, Metairie, St. Charles Borromeo, Destrehan, St. Mary Pamela, Raceland, and St. Matthias, New Orleans. From 1963 to 1969 he served at Sacred Heart Church in Lacombe first as administrator, then as pastor. From 1969 until his retirement in 2001, he served as pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Slidell. During retirement Monsignor Hotard remained busy, volunteering daily at Saint Joseph Abbey near Covington. Visitation will be at Saint Joseph Abbey on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and again from 7 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17. A Funeral Vigil will be held Tuesday night at 7:15 p.m. and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Abbey Church on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 11:15 a.m. Interment will follow in the Abbey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Road, Saint Benedict, LA 70457. ===================
