Daughter of the late Curtis Clifford Walther and Mayme Boudreaux Walther, Barbara is Pre-deceased by her Husband, Robert Covey, Sr., and her eldest Son, Robert “Starbear” Covey, Jr. She is survived by her son, Wayne Covey, and his daughters, Mayme and Cassie Covey, her daughter, Jeanne Covey Mollere, and her Children Melissa Anderson and Michelle Mollere, and Melissa’s Children, Sidney, and Charlotte, Her youngest son, Daniel Covey, Sr. and his Son, Stewart, and Robert Covey’s children, Tara, Chad and Wayne Covey. To all of us listed here, she was the best mom, grandmother and wife anyone could ask for, and she will be sadly missed! Barbara was a former resident of New Orleans, and moved to the Mandeville, to be near her children and grandchildren in the mid 90’s, and has been here ever since. Barbara attended LSU, and was a manager for Ethan Allen, in New Orleans, and was a retail instructor at Job Corps prior to her retirement. She was a member of Christ Church Cathedral, St. Phillips and Christ Church Covington. She was a member of numerous garden, crafts and civic associations over the years, as she wanted to make a difference in her community. Barbara and her dad were active in the Krewe of Hermes, in 1949 she was crowned Queen Hermes, and remained active in the organization for years after her reign. Barbara volunteered at Caritas in Covington working with the community's children. Mom always wanted to be where her children and grandchildren were. Even in her infirmity, she wanted to attend every game and event that her grandkids were involved in. She was the best! A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church Covington in the 1847 Chapel, on Saturday August 31, at 11:00am. Family and Friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that you make a donation to a Children’s Charity of your choice. ===================
