Prieur Leary, born in New Orleans, grew up in Pass Christian, Mississippi and attended Tulane University Business and Law Schools. He was top of his class with a Masters in Taxation at NYU Law School. He clerked at Phelps Dunbar and began his legal career at Jones Walker, and later at Liskow and Lewis. He founded Acadian Marine Service Inc, a worldwide provider of offshore oil field marine vessels and was accepted into Young President's Organization. After selling that company, Prieur went on to run several additional companies involving business turnarounds, oil and gas investments, and real estate development. He founded The New Orleans Economic Club, served as President of Junior Achievement, was Board Member of The Metropolitan Crime Commission, Trinity Episcopal School, and The Tulane Medical Center Board. He served as President of the New Orleans Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization, and was later on its international Board. He was a member of the World Presidents Organization, as well. He served as a Commissioner on the Panama Canal Alternative Study under the Regan Administration and an advisory to the U.S. State Department. He was a loving husband and father to his wife, Mathilde Stone Leary, and his children, Prieur James Leary, III of Miami Beach, Florida and his wife, Patricia Garcia Leary, Mathilde Deslonde Leary of Houston, Texas, and Ashley Baldwin Leary of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alexandra Hartson Leary, Cecilia Blake Leary, Chloe Baldwin Leary, and Lucas Thomas Leary. He leaves behind his siblings Kerry Leary, John Leary, Timothy Leary, and Shannon Leary Ladner of both New Orleans, LA and Pass Christian, MS. Prieur was a member of the Southern Yacht Club, New York Yacht Club, New Orleans Country Club, Stratford Club, Pickwick Club and many carnival organizations. He was an avid sailor who loved the ocean, an entrepreneur, a visionary, a family man, and most of all a friend and great spirit. He touched many lives - and will be dearly missed. On Tuesday, August 13th at noon, the Family will receive visitors at Holy Name of Jesus Church in New Orleans, Louisiana with a mass to follow at 1pm and reception at family friend's home to follow.
