Mailey Rauch, was called back to active duty to serve his God on August 19, 2013. He was 84 years old. While the loss of this energetic, gregarious, and exuberant man will leave the world a bit less joyous, the remembrances of him by those whose lives he touched along the way will more than make up for this loss. Born and raised in New Orleans, Ted was a graduate of Samuel J. Peters High School (Class of ’47) and Delgado Community College. He also attended LSU and UNO. Never straying far from his New Orleans roots, he resided in Kenner, Sun, and Mandeville. He began his career as an electrician with Sharp Electric, becoming a refrigeration technician for Coca-Cola and a maintenance supervisor for A&G Cafeterias. He then joined the Louisiana Air National Guard, ultimately serving 30 years as a veteran of both the Louisiana National Guard (Washington Artillery) and Air National Guard (159th Fighter-Interceptor and 122nd Fighter Squadrons), working as a Ground Power Systems Technician, Aircraft Mechanic, and Aircraft Recovery and Reclamation Specialist. He received numerous citations and awards for technological innovation. After retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant, he started Blueberry Hill Blueberry Farm in Sun, LA, and spent 20 years as a coppersmith for Bevolo Gas and Electric Lights in New Orleans and Covington. “Mr. Ted” was a Cub and Boy Scout leader from the mid-60s through the mid-90s in Kenner and Mandeville. In his “retirement” he volunteered for numerous organizations including the Sun Fire Department, St. Tammany Hospital Guild, the St. Tammany Humane Society, Pets and People as Partners, and the Covington Food Bank. He was a role model and mentor throughout his distinguished military and business careers and as an avid volunteer. He is survived by his wife, Imogene Jobe “Gene” Rauch, and their son, Richard Travis “Rick” Rauch. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Visitation from 1:00 PM until service time. Interment in Mandeville Cemetery.
