A native of New Orleans and a lifelong resident of Lake Catherine, La. Beloved husband of Mary “Pruney” Firth Schmalz. Son of the late Louis J. Schmalz,Sr and Ethel Balser Schmalz. Devoted father of Bonnie Jean Schmalz Paretti and Charles “Chuck” Quitman Schmalz(Lisa Geiling). Brother of the late Louis J. Schmalz, Jr. Brother –in-law of Mildred Schmalz, Carlene Bitter, the late Paul Bitter, Arlene Firth Broom, Willy Broom and Willy Broom Jr. Grandfather of Thomas A., IV, Gino S. and Nico Rinaldo Paretti, Mike Conzonere,IV, Matthew Charles Quitman Schmalz, Chad Conzonere and Ron Charles “Chip” Schmalz. Also survived by 4 great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews. He was retired after 35 years from General Electric, was a member of the local musicians “NOMA”, and was inducted into the Hard Rock Hall of Fame. Ronnie was also known for his bands, “The Majestics” and “Ron Schmalz and the Chiffons”. He was the owner of Ron Charles Restaurant and Lounge. He was a lifelong member of the Lake Catherine Fort Pike Volunteer Fire Dept., the Moose Lodge #35 and served in the Army National Guard. The family wishes to thank Hospice for their compassion and care. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Services at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 1:00 P.M.
