Dixie was born in Hess, Oklahoma on August 20, 1924. She resided in Chalmette, Kenner and most recently Mandeville, Louisiana. She was a Past Matron of Encircler Chapter 191, Order of the Eastern Star. Dixie was a strong, loving and devoted mother and friend and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. She was the loving mother of Karan Ladell Shaw Prieto, Dona Jewel Shaw and Sandra Lynn Shaw Jurenka (Jaroslav), the proud grandmother of Carlos René Prieto, Dona Jean Quintanilla, Isabel Grace Jurenka and Victoria Ann Jurenka and great-grandmother of Carlos René Prieto, Jr. and Ayden Lee Core Quintanilla. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman Andrew Shaw, Jr., her infant son Carl Herman Shaw, her father Carl Elsworth Hooper, her mother Jewel Russett Hooper and her four older brothers, Marion Elsworth “Cooter”, W.A. “Pete”, Cecil Nevern and Clayton Chester. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Dixie’s name to Notre Dame Hospice (A Ministry of the Archdiocese of New Orleans). She will be laid to rest at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. ===================
