Vilora, beloved wife, was preceded in death by the late Denis Paul Bergeron, Sr., whom she was married to for 51 years. Mother of Janine “Jeanie” Bergeron Buck of Poplarville, MS; Denise Bergeron Punch of Orlando, FL; Denis “Sonny” Bergeron, Jr.; and the late Danette Karen Bergeron. Vilora is preceded in death by her mother and father, the late Lydia Ruth and Louis Acosta and sister Irma Ruth Gomez. Also survived by 8 grandchildren: Janine Dossman Morphis, Jennifer Dossman Hale, Tavie Brandau Kekko, Jorden Adamietz Mathis, Michael Alan Punch, Stacey Danette Punch, Kelsey Nicole Bergeron, and Brandon Lee-Taylor Buck. One great grandson: Eli Drake Kekko. Aged 78 years, a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Slidell since 1971. Vilora was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. With over 30 years of teaching, she was an advocate for education and received many accolades. She was a member of numerous civic minded organizations including the Ladies Auxiliary to the Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Her hobbies included: reading, genealogical research, tropical plant gardening, restoring antique furniture, learning, and traveling the world. One of her greatest accomplishments was writing a genealogy book, which resides in the Louisiana State Archives. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 400 Westchester Blvd., Slidell, LA on Tuesday, September 10, 2009 at 12:00 o’clock noon. Visitation will be at church from 10:00am until 12:00pm. Donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Capital Building Fund in honor of Mrs. Bergeron are preferred, in lieu of flowers. ===================
