She was a spiritual person, a beautiful kind and gentle spirit who loved life — loved to laugh, dance, loved music, art, good books and an occasional glass of chardonnay. While she's now in heaven with our father and her great love, Walter James Binnings, her absence leaves a great big hole in the lives of her family— daughter Pamela Binnings Lott and husband James Lott, son Bill Binnings and wife Janice Binnings, and son Michael Binnings and wife Charlotte Binnings; as well as her grandchildren,Christopher Binnings and fiancé Brigid Murphy, Scott Ewen and wife Andrea, Nicholas Binnings and wife Ellen, Daniel Bowen Binnings and fiancé Arianne Hughes, Baelee Binnings, and the great grandchildren--Devon and Chase Binnings, Lex and Lucia Ewen, Davis, Brooke, and Brett Binnings, Jakob and Cyrus Binnings, and Jack and Lucy BinningsBlack. Our mother was born of medical missionary parents in Bangkok, Siam in 1921, Dr. Harvey Perkins and Barbara Bond Perkins. Barbara Jeanne was an exceptional lady of grace and wisdom, the embodiment of ideals. Our mother was our north star. Barbara Jeanne is also survived by her beloved sister June Perkins Anderson, and June and Robert Anderson's children, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins from the Binnings/Burke and Perkins/Bond sides of the family, all of whom were close to her heart. Reverend Stephen Holzab also had a special place in her heart, and in our family's hearts as well. Barbara Jeanne was, and is, a true child of God. Growing up in New Orleans, she attended Miss Edith Akins School and then the Louise S. McGehee School and Sophie B. Wright. She spent many happy years in New Orleans, Philadelphia, Pa., Sulphur, La., and Mandeville in St. Tammany Parish, La. The last years of her life were spent in Christwood Retirement Community in Covington, Louisiana, where she was cared for by many angels. FOR OUR MOTHER The sun asked the moon why she only shines at night. Planets spun, asteroids whirled and then a comet cried, She's the mother of the stars, and of time and the tide; Without her reflection, the stars would have no guide. She's the most important one. Then the stars winked and nodded in her soft, white light. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Christ Episcopal Church located at 120 South New Hampshire St., Covington, La. at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 30th. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM. A celebration of Barbara Jeanne's life will be held in the Garden Room at Christwood Retirement Home, 100 Christwood Blvd., Covington, at 4:00 PM. Our family would like to thank St. Tammany Hospital Hospice for their sensitive, loving care of our mother in her last days. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to St. Tammany Hospital Hospice at 725 W. 11th Street, Covington, La. 70433. ===================
