Cook for 65 years, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013. She was the loving mother of Barbara Cook Ruffin (Dan) and Henry T. “Tom” Cook Jr. (Kimberly) and was the charismatic, wonderful grandmother of Leslie Camille Pichon, Danielle Lewis (Brian), Beau R. Pichon (Kristin), William “T.J.” Cook (Pam), Elizabeth “Liza” Cook, and Henry T. “Tommy” Cook III. She leaves behind eight deeply loved great-grandchildren: Sadie, Wyatt, and Audry Camille Lewis; Kyla, Hayden, Landen, and Trendon Cook; and Caroline Rose Pichon. She is also survived by her brother, Don Elliot Buras, a sister-in-law, Audrey Buras, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Camille was preceded in death by her parents Frank P. and Ella B. Buras and three brothers: Claude, James, and Herbert Buras. Camille was born August 12, 1922 in Port Eades, LA, and grew up in nearby Burrwood, LA, experiencing a “blissfull” childhood near the mouth of the Mississippi River. She later moved to New Orleans and married. In 1948 she and Henry moved to the small town of Slidell, LA, to establish his medical practice. There she spent the greater part of her life raising her children and managing the business aspect of the medical practice. She led a busy life in the Slidell community and was instrumental in the early and formative years of many Slidell organizations such as the Slidell Women’s Civic Club, of which she was Queen in 1953, The Ozone Camellia Club, the Slidell Performing Arts Guild, Community Christian Concern, the St. Tammany Parish Medical Society Auxillary, the Bayou Vincent Golf Club, and the PTA’s of many Slidell schools. Some of her fondest memories, however, were the years she spent as a Girl Scout leader during the early 1950’s through the 1960’s. Camille will be remembered by many for her spirited and enthusiastic approach to life as a friend, grandmother, mother, and devoted wife. The family invites relatives and friends to attend funeral services at St. Margaret Mary Church in Slidell, LA, on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, with visitation at 10:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to one of Camille’s favorite causes, The National Shrine and Friary of St. Anthony, www.stanthony.org or 5000 Colerain Ave, Cincinnati, OH ===================
