He was born April 14, 1920 in Abita Springs, LA to Walter Henry and Katie Salisbury Davis and was a resident of Baton Rouge for most of his life until recently moving to Metairie to be near his son. The beloved husband of Gloria Nilson Davis, he is survived by a daughter, Nancy Davis Landry and husband Kenneth O. Landry of Bonita Springs, FL; one son, Edward A. Davis, Jr. and wife Janet Carroll Davis of Metairie; four grandsons; one step grandson; one granddaughter; five great-grandsons; two great- granddaughters and one sister, Leonora Davis Roebke of Bartow, Fl. His mother and father; three brothers: Walter Warren Davis, George Spooner Davis and Jesse Emile Davis and one sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Davis Heckmann precedes him in death. He was a member and elder (inactive) in the Broadmoor Presbyterian Church. He retired from the US Navy with the rank CWO/4 having served 22 years including service during World War II and Korea. After retiring he owned and operated the former Broadmoor Golf Driving Range and Golf Club Repair Shop on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge. He was past president of the USS Maryland BB46 National Veterans Association, Past President of the Baton Rouge Retired Officers Association, Past Master of Capitol Lodge 399 F&AM, Past Deputy Grand Master of the Thirteenth Masonic District; was active in the Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree KCCH, was a charter member of the Acacia Shrine Temple and was Past President of the Board of directors of Village Woods Retirement Community. A wake in memoriam is scheduled to take place at from 6-9:00 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433. The brothers of Thirteenth Masonic District will honour Mr Davis with recitation of the Masonic Funeral Rite on Thursday beginning at 7:00 PM. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Davis Cemetery on Davis Cemetery Road in Abita Springs. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Shrine’s Crippled Children Hospital through Acacia Temple (7991 Commerce Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70815). ===================
