Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2013/st1309.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Burton Paul Gremillion, born in New Orleans on December 28, 1942 departed peacefully at home on September 20, 2013 at the age of 70. He is welcomed to eternal peace by his mother, Velma Couvillion Gremillion, his father, Paul Gremillion, and his sisters Lois Gremillion and Joyce Gremillion Jemison. He leaves behind his brother Norris Gremillion and youngest sister Janie Gremillion Folse. Burt is also survived by 26 nieces and nephews, as well as many other close family members and friends. Burt was a devoted friend, a loving family member and a blessing to everyone who knew him. Burt lived and loved life to the fullest. With a personality larger than life and an infectious laughter, people loved to be around him. Blessed with an amazing memory, Burt was a prolific story teller. In addition, Burt also founded and operated Cajun Jambalaya, a successful restaurant and catering business, which served thousands of customers at the Audubon Zoo, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and the Crescent City Classic to name a few. Known as the “Jambalaya King”, Burt quietly served others with generous donations to numerous non-profit agencies and individuals. In recent years, Burt worked as an insurance agent, providing coverage for numerous businesses and individuals in the New Orleans area. Burt was a living legend to those who knew and loved him and his legacy will continue long after his passing. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 1:30 pm on Thursday, September 26, 2013 from the church at St. Joseph Abbey, River Road, St. Benedict, Louisiana. Interment will take place at the Abbey Cemetery. Following the service, everyone is invited to celebrate Burt’s life and legacy at a special catered event using Burt’s famous Jambalaya recipe. The event will be held at Vintage Court on Hwy. 25 and will take place immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, please help a family in need. ===================
