A native and resident of New Orleans for over 70 years, she was born, Friday, October 26, 1934 to Ferdinand Canzoneri and Maria Giuseppa “Josephine” Bavido Canzoneri and was a resident of Mandeville since 2004. The beloved wife of the late Dr. Clarence C. “Dukie” Hava, Jr., she was the devoted mother of Amy Cox (Michael), Gina Scheuermann (Scott) and Mark C. Hava (Lisa) and the loving sister of Joseph F. Canzoneri and Clara C. Miller. She was “Nona” to the seven people she treasured the most, her grandchildren: Heidi, Alexis and Brett Scheuermann, Molly and Camryn Cox, Vivian and Nicholas Hava. Laura is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear life long friends, including her Omega Sigma Gamma sisters and classmates from Francis T. Nicholls High School in New Orleans. After graduating from high school, Laura worked at the New Orleans Sewage and Water Board, with her dear friend, Mary Hyatt, decorating Mardi Gras costumes for several krewes in New Orleans and retired from the Orleans Parish School System. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St. Mandeville, LA 70448. Visiting hours will begin at the church on Saturday at 9:00 AM. Interment at Hope Mausoleum, 4841 Canal St. New Orleans, LA 70119, will immediately follow mass. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at Notre Dame Hospice and Gifted Nurses for the compassionate care they provided for our mother over the past six months. Also, the deepest gratitude is felt for the five angels that gave of themselves daily not only for Mom, but for our entire family: Beth, Ellen, Anne, Kathleen and Julie.
