King, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at his home in Covington, LA. He was born on Sunday, February 18, 1923 in Birmingham, AL to Barney E. and Sadie Williams King but moved back to Covington at an early age. The beloved husband of Marie Sharp King for 55 years, he is survived by four daughters: Wynona K. McNeil (the late Bill), Joan K. McKinley (Mike), Jacquelyn K. Nettles (Ben) and Tammy K. Brewer (Brian); two sisters, Geri K. Grant and Cheryl K. Harris (Clem); 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents (his mother before the age of 2 years); his step mother, Jesse Christy King was the mother he knew and loved; two sons, Andrew and Lonnie King; and six siblings: Cora Lee Core, Wallace W. King, Ruth K. Turner, Lawrence R. King, Evelyn K. Liecher and Sidney Carroll King. As a young man, he apprenticed with his father and later became a full partner with his dad and his brothers for B.E. King and Sons Plastering, Drywall, and Fireproofing. He later began his own company, New Orleans Plastering. With both companies, he contracted for jobs in many large commercial buildings in New Orleans. He began a second career closer to home and family when he opened King Real Estate where he was able to successfully support his family while helping many newcomers relocate to his beautiful Northshore. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Covington, 16333 Highway 1085 Covington, LA 70433. A wake is scheduled to take place at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Visiting hours Saturday at First Baptist Church of Covington will begin at 9:30 AM. Interment at Freedom House Church (formerly Shepherd's Fold Church Cemetery) will immediately follow services.
