Sisters Katherine, Jean and Marge would predecease her but she is survived by her “baby” sister, Janet of Gulfport, FL. Growing up in Arlington, New Jersey, she adored her parents and four sisters. While attending Kearney High, she starred on the basketball court and was known for her singing voice. No doubt her sister Jean welcomes her into heaven looking forward to hearing her make her “joyful noise” again. Once settled in Louisiana, she made an unforgettable home life for her family and taught them all that is needed to make their way in this world. Although she was to spend the last 74 years of her life in Louisiana, she was a “Presbyterian Yankee” through and through. In spite of learning to make a “mean” pot of gumbo, she continued to prefer a bowl of oatmeal (no sugar, thank you very much). Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Cecil Alexander Parr, as well as two grandchildren, Matthew and William Laurie. She is survived by her children, Priscilla Laurie (William), Robin Smith (Frank), and Allan Parr (Adrienne); seven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. To date there are but five great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind an array of cousins both near and far who shall, one and all, miss her smile and great good humor. Her like is not gone from this earth but they are a rare few of such goodness and grace that, while this planet is a lesser place for her passing, such is heaven’s gain. Special thanks to our new friends at St. Tammany Hospice for their gracious treatment, the parishioners at St. Luke’s Episcopal of Baton Rouge for their many prayers, and the wonderful staff and friends at Christwood Retirement Community. A memorial to mark a remembrance of her life will be arranged to take place at a later date, friends and family to be notified. Anyone pondering a donation should use said moneys for their own or their families’ needs as she would be the first to acknowledge that Americans are generous enough when true need and causes arise. Departed this life in Covington, Louisiana on October 3, 2013. ===================
