Anderson, of Madisonville, LA, died on Sunday, November 10, 2013 in Covington, LA at the age of 78. Born, Saturday, November 17, 1934 in Leesburg, VA. He attended the local elementary and high schools in Martinsburg, WV and graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY in 1957 with a B.S. degree in Nautical Science and Marine Transportation. After graduating from the Academy, he worked several years with Moore-McCormack Lines as a ship's officer prior to entering into the U.S. Navy. In 1976 Reverend Anderson met and married his wife, Helen, in New Orleans, LA. In 1977 he became a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Gretna, LA, where he served as Elder and Chairman of the Elders. Upon his retirement from the Navy in 1982, he entered Concordia Theological Seminary at Ft. Wayne, Indiana through the Colloquy program, receiving a Master of Arts in Religion degree in August 1984. He served Christ Lutheran Church, Meridian, MS for 2 years and Trinity Lutheran Church, Cantonment, FL from 1986-1996. He and his wife Helen then retired and moved back to LA. Survived by his sons Mark R. Anderson and Matthew R. Anderson, step-sons Edmond J. Dibos and Wayne W. F. Dibos 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Helen S. Anderson, father Roy Victor Anderson, and mother Lena Agnes Anderson. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1905 Hwy 59, Mandeville, LA 70448 on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, from 10:00 AM until service time. Rev. Anderson’s remains will then be forwarded to Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, WV 25401 for visitation on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM followed by a graveside service at New Norbourne Cemetery, Martinsburg, WV at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund. U.S. Veteran ===================
