Burch, Sr., age 92 of Slidell, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2013. He shared a life full of love and laughter with his wife, the late Camille Littell Burch, “the best person in the world,” for 59 years. He was the beloved father of the six children they always wanted, Gwendolyn Burch Leininger (Ed), Warren E. Burch, Jr. (Chris), Robert R. Burch (Debbie), David P. Burch (Kathy), Michael E. Burch, and Elizabeth Burch Saylor (Doug). He is survived by his children, his brother, Dr. Robert R. Burch, eleven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by Deana Stout, the deeply loved companion of Warren and Camille. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. George E. Burch, Sr. and Lottie Monroe Burch, and his siblings, Donald Burch, Clyde C. Burch, Dr. George E. Burch, Lucille Hymel, and Dorothy Nolan. Born on May 11, 1921, in Edgard, Louisiana, Warren learned early on that happiness was earned through love and care for others, and throughout his life affected everyone he met with his thoughtfulness, kindness, and generosity. He worked hard to attend and graduate from Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now the University of Louisiana, Lafayette) with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering. There, he lived among mules in a farm dormitory while working his way through college, served as student body president, and, on the most important day of his life, met his wife, Camille. They married on September 8th, 1945, and through Warren’s career with Cities Service, Sunray DX Oil Company and Sun Oil Company, raised their children in Lake Charles, LA, Washington, DC, Tulsa, OK, Westfield, NJ and Berwyn, PA. Amongst other responsibilities, he was the manager over seven oil refineries. He testified before Congress several times and was a member of the Reagan Energy Commission. Throughout, he devoted his life to the happiness and love of his wife and children. He retired in 1983 as vice president of Sun Oil Company. He had a lifelong love of nature and spent many years as a scoutmaster and leader in the Boy Scouts of America, receiving its highest award, the Silver Beaver. During retirement, he loved to spend time fishing with his grandchildren. When Camille became ill with Parkinson’s disease, Warren devoted his life to caring for her. He touched the lives of many, where his love was always felt and will always be remembered. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates Blvd., Slidell, LA 70461, on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 9:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell. In lieu of flowers, Warren has requested donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America, PO Box 152079, Irving, TX 75015, In Memoriam of Warren Burch. ===================
