Edwin Val Panks, age 85, a native and lifelong resident of Slidell, LA, passed 
away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. 

He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline Wythe Levy Panks for 61 years. 
He was born to the late John J. Panks, Jr. and Elizabeth Underwood Panks and 
was the brother of the late John J. Panks, III, William L. Panks, and Helen P. 
Rugan. 

After graduating from Slidell High in 1947, he became a volunteer fireman for 
the City of Slidell and an employee of Canulette Ship Yard. 
He then served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. during the Korean War. 
After 38 years, Edwin retired from the U.S. Postal Service and then spent two 
years as a bus aide for STPSB. 

Edwin was the proud father of Gaynell Collins, Gwen Venezia and the late Linda 
Luther and Lisa Panks King. He was father in law to James Collins, James 
Venezia, Billy Luther and Carl King. He was also survived by 10 grandchildren, 
12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Edwin was known and loved for his charm and wit and for his love for the Purple 
and Gold.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral
Services at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME,
1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA
on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:00 A.M.

Interment in FOREST LAWN CEMETERY.

Visitation on Saturday after 9:00 A.M. until funeral time.

Donations to the American Heart Association, preferred, in lieu of flowers.
