He was born in New Orleans September 23, 1930 and lived in the Folsom area for 55 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Marie Bergeron Schmidt and his parents, Charles E. Schmidt, Sr and Angele LeBesque Schmidt. He is survived by his five daughters; Emily (Paul) Moore, Claire (Mark) Spano, Mary (Ron) Owens, Heidi (Grant) Brown and Patricia Schmidt. He was also survived by nine grandchildren; Cecile, Ellen, Abbie and Caroline Garcia; Lydia, Alex, and Sophie Spano; and Emily and Theresa Owens. He is also survived by his sister Charlotte Schmidt Overton and many loving friends and family. He attended Tulane University and Louisiana State University. At the age of 26, he was hired with Delta Airlines as a co-pilot trainee. He quickly became a Captain and flew with Delta for 31 years. He loved to fish, garden, hike, read and watch the Saints. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a recipient of the Order of St. Louis IX award. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services on Friday, December 6, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 11345 St. John Church Rd., Folsom, LA 70437 at 1:00 PM with visitation at Church on Friday from 11:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. ===================
