Dorothea Dore was born to Joseph and Verna Ortopan on February 7, 1922 in Akron 
Ohio.

Wife of the late George T. (Bud) Dore.
She is survived by her brother Leroy Ortopan of San Francisco, CA, her sons 
George T of Orange, California and John M of Slidell. Grandchildren: Therese 
Meginley and husband, Charlton; Dr. Anne Marie Kaulfers and husband, Shaun; 
John J. Dore and wife, Morgan; Renee’ Girod and husband, Joshua; and 7 great- 
grandchildren.
Sister of the late Joseph, Robert, Edward, John Ortopan and Ruby Brown.

She graduated from Kenmore High School and St Thomas School of Nursing. She 
served in World War II as a nurse in the US Navy where she met her husband 
George Dore. They were married in June 1946 in Latham, New York and moved to 
Slidell in 1964. She worked as a nurse for many years. Locally, she worked at 
Slidell Memorial Hospital, The Guest House Nursing Home, finally retiring from 
Southeast Louisiana Hospital in 1997. She was active at St Margaret Mary 
Catholic Church. .

Graveside Services and interment were held at FOREST LAWN CEMETERY in Slidell 
on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.
