She lived in New Orleans until her early teenage years and then relocated with her mother and younger sisters to Covington, where she resided for over fifty years. On November 10, 1963, Hilda married Robert Harrison, and from that union five children were born. Before leaving New Orleans and relocating to Covington, Mrs. Hilda was educated in the New Orleans Public School System where she attended George Washington Carver High School. While in Covington, Mrs. Hilda attended Covington Rosenwald High School. She received her Phlebotomy Technician certification at Sullivan Vocational School. During her career, she worked as a local Insurance agent for American General and National Life. Mrs. Hilda loved taking care of the ill; therefore, it was only fitting that she embraced a career as a home caregiver, working for various agencies throughout the parish. Mrs. Hilda had a genuine sense of humor that left a lasting impression on those who knew her. She would often ask people a question, sometimes repeatedly, to which she already knew the answer. Mrs. Hilda would always tell the most intriguing stories, especially those experiences growing up with her siblings and good friend, Maryanne, in New Orleans. Every summer, Mrs. Hilda spoiled her grandchildren; however, she kept a close eye on them at all times. She and her grandchildren laughed constantly during their outings, some consisting of long hours on the Lakefront in Mandeville or playing games at Putt Putt. Her patience in dealing with the grandkids never ceased to amaze us. On Monday, January 27, 2014, Mrs. Hilda departed this life at her home in Covington. She leaves to cherish her memories five children: a daughter, Robin M. Harrison of Haymarket, VA; four sons: Dewayne Harrison (Denise) of Baton Rouge, LA; Robert Harrison Jr. (Emma) of Slidell, LA; Dr. Ronnie Harrison Sr. (LaDonna) of Monroe, LA; and Renee Harrison Sr. of Haymarket, VA; one brother, Henry L. Johnson Jr.; two sisters: Hazel J. Reed (Judge Morris Reed/ret); Victoria J. Trevigne (Henry); and one aunt, Coretha Baham Anderson. She also leaves her sisters-in-law: Ethel Lee Harrison Clark (Hollie) and Verna Harrison Morman. Brothers-in-law: Roosevelt Harrison (Hazel), Charles Harrison, and Ronald Harrison. Nine grandchildren: Shantae Harrison, Trevor Harrison, Samantha Craighton, Ronnie Harrison Jr., Arion Pierre, Renee Harrison Jr, Angela Meriweather, and two step-grandchildren: Tony and Tiara Clark. Close family friends, Patricia Cousin, Tracy Clark and Norma Binns, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Mrs. Hilda was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Helen J. Cheneau, Shirlen Johnson, and Viola Johnson. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 1st, 1:00pm at Mount Zion Pilgram Missionary B.C. – 409 West 30th Avenue, Covington, La 70433. Family Visitation 12-1pm. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington, LA will follow services. Service arrangements have been entrusted to E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington, LA. ===================
