All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/copyright.shtml ======================================================================= HOLLAND, EARNEST LYNN Mr. Earnest Lynn Holland, age 75, of Lumberton, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 at his daughter's home in Pearl River, Louisiana, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was born on January 8, 1939, in Purvis, Mississippi next to Sunny Hill Pentecostal Church which is where he will be buried as well. Earnest is the son of the late Reverand James Mattison "Matt" Holland and the late Hassie Myrtle Smalley. Earnest not only loved his family but had a special place in his heart for all children. He worked hard providing for his family throughout the years. Earnest was a man who loved life. He truly had no like or equal and was not one to follow the crowd. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing, going to the stock yard, and selling watermelons with his grandkids in New Orleans, Louisiana. Most importantly, Earnest was in love with his Savior, Jesus Christ. If you had the privilege of talking to him after his trip in 2011 to Little Rock, Arkansas, he was sure to share his Acts 2:38 experience. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by the mother of his children, Easter Lily Eaton, his son, Harold Ray Holland, his sister, Angie Nell Holland, his brother-in-law, Bill Dearman, and his brother-in-law, Reverand Tommy Buford. Survivors include his wife, Betty Holland of Lumberton; son, James Holland "J.M." of Purvis, Mississippi; daughter, Lillian Blackwell (Whitt Arlin Blackwell) of Pearl River, Louisiana; sister, Sybil Williams (Richard Bond) of Gulfport, Mississippi; sister, Mary Ella Dearman of Brookhaven, Mississippi; sister, Linda Cobb (Robert Cobb) of Jackson, Mississippi; sister, Libby Buford of Benndale, Mississippi; brother, Rodney Holland (Kay Holland) of Terrell, Texas; brother, Reverand Jimmy Don Holland (Sharon Holland) of Crowville, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Whitt "Arlin" Blackwell II (Sarah Blackwell) of Douglasville, Georgia, Amber Blackwell of Slidell, Louisiana, Harold "Ray" Holland, Jr. (Crystal Holland) of Pearl River, Louisiana, Kathy Barnett (Billy Joe Barnett) of Philadelphia, Mississippi; eight great-grandchildren, Kade Aucoin, Kendall Blackwell, Skylar Holland, Noah Sticker, Emily Holland, Kellie Davis, Christopher Barnett, and Katie Barnett; seven step-children, twenty-two step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Sunny Hill Pentecostal Church of Purvis, with Reverand Jeff Jones and Reverand Billy Trusley. Interment will follow in the Sunny Hill Pentecostal Church Cemetery, with Johnathan Holland, Gregory Cobb, Leland Keith, Greg Ezel, Travis Knue, and Danny Williams serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Passman, Wayne Howell, Gene Singletary, and Thomas Buford. The family will receive friends at Sunny Hill Pentecostal Church on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 6:00 P.M.
