Kelley, "Ben", passed away quietly in his Covington home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, January 3, 2014. Survived by his wife, Lois Kelley, step-son Nathan (Conchy), granddaughter, Jennifer (Omar), great-grand children Jaden and Juleana and a host of nephews and a niece. He was predeceased by his first wife, Louise "Weezie" Kelley, and his parents, Anna Hessian and James Kelley. He was 89 years old. Born May 27, 1924, in the Irish Channel of New Orleans, LA. Graduate of Redemptorist High School and Tulane University. World War II Veteran, U.S. Navy. Retired Personnel Director of The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A resident of Covington, LA for 35 years Ben was eternally grateful for his Catholic faith, his Irish Heritage, his family, his friends and the opportunity to serve others with the Knights of Columbus. He was a friend to all and an enemy of none. The family would like to send a warm thank you to his nephew, Dennis Waldron, and The Kelley's dear friend, Patty Mathies, and her family, who took special care of him the last few years of his life. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. THURSDAY January 9, 2014 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Abbey, 75376 River Rd., St. Benedict, LA 70457 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Hope Mausoleum, 4841 Canal St., New Orleans, LA.
