She passed away peacefully on January 10, 2014 with her children at her side. She was the fourth daughter of Jules and Ida Setze. Carol Ann grew up in New Orleans and attended Warren Easton High School. From her first marriage, she had two children, Lisa and Mallery. Influenced by their mother's strong work ethics, these two went on to become successful business owners. During her lifetime, Carol Ann was a dog breeder, salesperson, and member of the Junior League in Picayune, Ms. One of her true joys was to spend time in her garden and to follow her family's athletic careers. She loved sports and could not wait for a Saints game. Carol Ann adored Brett Farve and recently received a signed jersey from him. Although she claimed many titles, she was most proud of the ones "Mom" and "Granny". She helped her daughter Lisa at AppleTree Academy as office administrator and served as honorary Granny to all employees and children. Carol Ann later went on to help her son at Mele Printing. She performed many duties, again as Granny to all, and eventually took on the role of Cookie Lady, making thousands of cookies weekly for valued customers. At one time she was featured in "American Printer" magazine as the Cookie Lady of the printing industry. Recently, Carol Ann became a resident of Forest Manor Nursing Home and was dearly loved by staff and friends. She also attended New Beginnings Church and was proud to be a Christian. Carol Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Jules and Ida Setze, sister Verna Eckert, infant brother, Jules Setze Jr., and first husband Mal Mele. Her survivors include her sisters Beverly Russell and Marilyn Soniat, her daughter Lisa McCollum, son Mallery Mele, daughter in-law Tammy Prather Mele, grandchildren Christina McCollum, Glenn and Catherine McCollum Davis, Amanda, Morgan, Mallery, Matthew Mele, great granddaughter Hartley Davis, and many nieces and nephews. In addition, the family of her heart Mich Mele, Ed Ramsey, Ginger and Timmy Prather, and Candace and Sawyer McArther. As a sister, mom, granny, child of god, aunt, friend, and loved one to many, Carol Ann was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at New Beginnings Church, 19219 N. 4th St. (corner of N. 4th and Hwy 190), Covington, LA 70433. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, from 1:30 PM until service time. Interment in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. ===================
