Arthur Wallace Quick, Sr. passed away peacefully on January 6, 2014 at the age 
of 91. 

He was born on 9/26/1922 to Cecile and William Quick and brother to the late 
William Quick, Henry Quick and Mildred George. 

Arthur was raised in the New Orleans area where he met his beautiful bride of 
64 years, the late Mary McGovern Quick. They raised 7 children in Chalmette, 
La. Their names: Jacquelyn Berry, Marilyn Ward, Arthur Quick, Jr., Gwendolyn 
Landry, Kathlyn Giusti, Richard Quick and Robert Quick. He was the grandfather 
of 8 grandchildren including all his extended family and great grandchildren. 
Arthur was retired from Murphy Oil Refinery in Meraux, La. He moved to Slidell 
in 1972 where he founded the North Shore Volunteer Fire Department, was 
president of the North Shore Beach Association for many years and was a member 
of the Slidell Masonic Lodge #311 and Asbestos Worker Local #53. He was named a 
hero by the Times Picayune News in 1942 for saving a drowning man in the 
Mississippi River. 
Arthur was always a hard worker and very dedicated man. 
He will be sadly missed by many. God bless his soul and take him home.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Honaker Funeral 
Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, in Slidell.
Friends may visit at the funeral home beginning at 9:00am.
Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
