Dr. James Puckette "Jim" Carter, Professor Emeritus, passed away on Wednesday, 
February 12, 2014 in Covington, LA. 
He was born on Saturday, October 7, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Morris R. and Ruth 
Puckette Carter and following a career which took him to numerous cities in the 
U.S., he came to reside in Mandeville, LA in 2006.

The beloved husband of Carolyn Harris-Carter, Jim was previously married to 
Gena Hunter Carter and is survived by their three children - Geoffrey L. Carter 
(Sarah Jordan Carter), Rebecca L. Carter and James P. Carter, Jr. He is also 
survived by one brother - Morris Carter; three grandchildren - Evan, Elias and 
Casey Carter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister - Ruth Carter. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral service at 10:30 AM on 
Friday, March 7, 2014 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. 
Covington, LA 70433.

Visiting hours at the funeral home on Friday will begin at 9:30 AM.

Interment at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS will immediatley follow 
services.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of James Carter to following
