Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2014/st1402.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== CALVIN JOHN MINOR, SR., age 86, departed his earthly life on February 7, 2014, to begin his heavenly life with his Lord and Savior, as well as his beloved family who preceded him into their heavenly manions bestowed by God himself. He was married to the late Evelyn Rose Basart for 45 years, and was the beloved father of Wanda Jean, Calvin Jr., (C.J.) (Mary) Melanie Ann Minor, (Coyle) (P.J.), and Colleen Rose. He adored his grandchildren, (Wanda's) Brandi, (Matt) Christian, Erik, (Cynthia), (C.J.'s) Kelly, (Pete) Katie, Brennan, (Melanie's) Shawn, (Bryan) Shannon, Sharon, (Colleen's) Isabel, Renee, and Juliana, and his great grandchildren, (Brandi's) Alexandrea, the late Koda, (Erik's) Ryan, Heidi, (Kelly's) Caroline, (Shawn's) Connor, Olivia, (Shannon's) Rylie, and Haydin. He was the beloved son of William John Minor, Jr., and Vera Bauder Minor. Calvin was a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls high School where he lettered in every sport and brought victory to the school's name. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he was in charge of the armory during his enlistment. SEMPER FI. He was very active in many civic and social organizations in his esteemed 9th ward. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at First English Lutheran church, 3701 Cleary Ave., Metairie, LA from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral services will start promptly at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in St. Vincent de Paul #2 Cemetery on Piety St. In lieu of flowers, please make all donations to First English Lutheran Church.
