Dennis Patrick Gilbert, 75, of Pearl River, LA, passed away on Friday, March 
28, 2014 at 7:00 PM. 

He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Donna Brooks Gilbert.

During his life, Dennis served in the United States Navy as a submariner, as 
well as a hydraulic engineer for the NASA space shuttle program, owner/operator 
of a school bus, and owner of both a kerosene delivery service and his own 
clock repair shop.

He was an avid collector, ingenious inventor and problem solver, and mentor and 
helper to many friends and neighbors. 
He was an active member of many organizations, but was most proud of his 
service to the US Submarine Veterans (especially the local Redfish Base) and 
the WWII Submarine Veterans.

He was the father of Dennis P. Gilbert Jr. and wife, Joyce; Susan Gilbert; 
Daryl Gilbert and wife, Charlene; and loving grandfather of: Zachary and Gavin 
Gilbert; Kyle and Kirstin Gilbert.

Memorial services will be held at the Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. 
West, Slidell, LA on Friday, April 4 at 5:00 PM.

Friends may visit between 4:00 and 5:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the US Submarine Veterans 
Charitable Foundation (Brotherhood Fund) or your favorite charity.

May his soul rest in peace while on Eternal Patrol.
