Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2014/st1403.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Maxiel Lee Laing, Jr, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, age 73 of Slidell was pronounced dead at Slidell Memorial Hospital after a heart attack, Saturday morning , March 29, 2014. He was born in Mer Rouge, Louisiana, August 4, 1940, and he had resided in Slidell for 30 years. He served in the United States Coast Guard for 28 years and served one tour of duty in Vietnam. After his retirement from the military, he worked as a marine inspector with several area companies. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Herring Laing, whom he was joined in marriage for 51 years, and his children: his son, Max Laing, III, and daughter- in-law, Janet Ballweber Laing of Slidell; his daughter, Kelda Laing Poynot, and son-in-law, Scott Poynot of Lafayette; and son, James Laing of Slidell. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Ethan, Joshua, Matthew, and Mia Poynot of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucretia Hughes Laing of Wilmont, Arkansas and Maxiel Lee Laing, Sr. of Mer Rouge, Louisiana. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 7, 2014, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Slidell. His ashes will be interred at the Biloxi National Cemetery at a later date.
