George E. ÒJimÓ Severs passed away on April 15, 2014 after a long battle with 
cancer. 

Jim was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey, then enlisted in the Navy and 
received a fleet appointment to the U.S. Naval Acadamy. After graduation, he 
served nine years with the U.S. Air Force, reaching the rank of Captain and 
then entered into helicopter sales. Jim moved to Slidell in 1973 where he had a 
career in real estate sales and income tax advising.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Joan Severs, in 2013, and his 
daughter Margaret in 1980. 

He is survived by his sons, Joseph, Thomas, and Paul, and by daughters Mary 
Macynski, Kathleen Magee, Joan Schlagheck, Anne Henrikson and Betsy Campbell. 
He also leaves twenty grandchildren.

Services will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1050 Robert Blvd, 
in Slidell, on Monday, April 21, 2014. Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed 
by services beginning at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the Marianist Mission.
