A true southern gentleman, he was born in Boligee, AL, resided for years in Mobile and moved to New Orleans in the early 50Õs where he met and married his precious Bobby Young. They had three children, Boo Costello Casserleigh, Sally Costello, and George William ÒWillÓ Costello III. After BobbyÕs death he met and married Cate Schwartz Costello, the second love of his life, to whom he was devoted and who adored him. Papa/Papa Bill adored his 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He never, ever met a stranger, and had an unusual ability to love everyone, no matter what. William was the quintessential storyteller, and the biggest Bama fan that ever existed. He spread GodÕs love simply by being nice, optimistic, a ton of fun and always thankful. He has been described as the happiest, most optimistic person most have ever metÉas the person weÕd all like to be like. His death will leave a huge hole in the lives of many, but he would say, ÒIt took the undertaker a week to get the smile off my face.Ó The William Costello Memorial Fund has been established at Christ Episcopal Church, Slidell, LA, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 24. If you have seersucker, nowÕs the time to wear itÉbow ties optional. ===================
