Dr. Gordon Lester Franke passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 surrounded by 
family at his home in Mandeville, LA. He was 72. He was born on August 26, 1941 
in Chicago, IL to the late Lester Herman and Bernice Christopher Franke. He 
resided in Mandeville for the past 37 years.

In 1967, Gordon married Kathleen Ludeman Franke and together they had two 
children, Gordy C. Franke (Laura) and Betsy F. Knotts (Christopher). He will be 
dearly missed by two precious grandchildren, Madeline and Simon Knotts. Gordon 
was the brother of Lawrence Franke (Charly).

Gordon was a clinical psychologist at Southeastern Louisiana State Hospital for 
many years and was Director of Youth Services when he retired in January 2013. 
He was an avid fan of melodic jazz throughout his life.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service 
on Saturday, May 31st, 2014 at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury 
Dr, Mandeville, LA 70471. Visitation will start at 10:00 AM and service at 
11:00 AM. A reception will follow services at the church. In lieu of flowers, 
the family requests contributions in memory of Dr. Gordon L. Franke be made to 
MD Anderson Center, and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
