VOORHIES, EMERY NORTON 
September 28, 1948 - May 20, 2014

Emery Norton Voorhies, age 65, died on Tuesday May 20, 2014 after a brief 
illness. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Norton William Voorhies and Mary 
Rees Voorhies. 

He is survived by his wife Jane Hamilton Voorhies, his daughter Harvison Smith 
Voorhies, his sister Molly Voorhies Gahagan, his brother in-law Bill Gahagan, 
their 2 children Molly Heurtin and Wiley Gahagan. He is also survived by 4 
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Emery graduated from the University of Mississippi and was a member of Delta 
Kappa Epsilon and received his Juris Doctorate from the Loyola School of Law. 
He practiced law in Covington, La, for many years.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church on Thursday, May 22, 
2014. Visitation is at 10:00 AM followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 
11:00.
