He was born on Tuesday, November 1, 1927 in Covington, TN to Henry Edna and Nettie Crump Watkins and was a long time resident of Louisiana. The beloved husband of Shirley Jourdan Watkins, he is survived by four children - Kenneth William Watkins (Mary Jo), Craig Henry Watkins (Jennifer), Perry Arnold Watkins and Paula Jayne Watkins Rajotte (Keith); three step children - Pat Dedon, Judy Dutruch (Kenny) and Connie Moore (Rick); one brother - Gilbert Edward Watkins; 21 grandchildren - Carey, Brandy, Zack, Christopher "Kip", Stephanie, Amanda, Colby and Lisa Watkins, Amber and Adam Faircloth, Micah, Melissa, Ryan, Staci, Adam and Monique Cefalu, Richard, Amber, David and Stacey Moore, Jordan Major and a whole host of great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers - William E. and Leonard W. Watkins, as well as an infant brother, and six sisters - Lillie Edna Shelley, Oma Lee Wiseman, Allie Mae Watkins, Eula Inez Mashburn, Nettie Frances Parham and Ruth Elaine Mulhearn. Mr. Watkins was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Covington and was a part of the Morgan Sunday School class. He loved his home in Goodbee, La., where he spent a large portion of his time gardening, enjoying his life as grandpa for a large family, beautifying his yard, and reminiscing about his amazing career as a General Contractor, developing commercial buildings and shopping centers. He was also a member of the United States Navy, serving in WWII, where he was honorable discharged November 1, 1948. He was also a proud member of the Free Masons. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Covington. Visiting hours at the church will begin Saturday at 9:00 AM. It was Mr. Watkins wish to be cremated and laid to rest at the Camp Villere National Cemetery in Slidell, LA upon its completion in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Covington Building Fund or to the Alzheimer's Association. United States Navy ===================
