Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2014/st1405.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Gerald George Young died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 23, 2014 surrounded by his family at his home in Mandeville, LA. He was 73 years of age. He was born in Gonzales, LA and was preceded in death by his parents, Dayton George and Eunice Brignac Young, and his brother, Ira J. Young. Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Diane Lange Young. He was the loving father of Laura Young Marquez and her husband, Martin D. Marquez. He will be dearly missed by his two grandsons, Alexander and Christopher Marquez. Jerry was the brother of Dolores Y. Dollar, and Eugene J. Young and is also survived by his nieces and nephews who were so dear to him. Jerry was employed by National American Bank for 22 years where he served as Vice President. He then went into the insurance business and was employed by Paul Revere Insurance Company and then Mass Mutual Insurance where he dedicated himself to his many clients throughout Southern Louisiana. Jerry served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1965. He served as a trustee of the Harbor Police Retirement Board for 25 years. Jerry was an avid fisherman and looked forward to his annual fall fishing trips with his brother, Gene, and their fishing group. He enjoyed travelling with his wife, especially their car trips and cruises. The highlight, though, was their trip to Asia after his retirement. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St, Mandeville, LA 70448 at 11:00 AM with visitation AT CHURCH from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will take place at a later date in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at Camp Villere in Slidell, LA. The family wishes to thank St. Tammany Parish Hospital Hospice, especially Donna and Ada for their loving care during his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memory of Gerald G. Young be made to the AlzheimerÕs Association,(985) 898.4043, and St. Tammany Hospice U.S. Army ===================
