She graduated from Charity Hospital School of Nursing in1949 and then attended LSU School of Medicine for one year while working full time at Charity Hospital. Before retiring in 1991, she spent over 30 years working with alcohol and drug abusers. Most of the years were spent at Southeast Louisiana Hospital in Mandeville, except for 6 years that she opened and managed the Outpatient Substance Abuse Clinic in Slidell for the Department of Health and Hospitals. Included in her many years of nursing was 3 years as Nursing Supervisor of the Radiology Department at Charity Hospital, which treated cancer and related diseases, instructor of Surgical Technicians at Baptist Hospital, and in 1965, opening and managing the Guest House Nursing Home in Slidell. Mrs. Allen was a native and lifelong resident of Slidell. She was 86 years of age. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Warren G. Allen. She is survived by her daughters Renee D. Radabaugh and husband Ron of Delray Beach Florida and Renita S. Woods and husband Eddie of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and stepdaughter Elizabeth Allen and partner Cynthia Rangel. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Nicholas Laporte and wife Bess of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; Tiffany Laporte Rawson and husband David of Slidell, Destiny E. Woods of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Francesca Radabaugh, Dakotah Radabaugh of Delray Beach, Florida. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Beckett Shane Rawson, Leah Nicole Laporte, David Alexander Laporte, and Easton James Rawson. She is also survived by her sister Yvonne Parks, sister in law Vicki Terral, brother James McBride, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents: Rene Emile Terral, Sr. and Carol Lee Henley McBride; 4 sisters: Jeanne ÒTinyÓ Parker, Ruby Joyce Taylor, Donna Leah Gauley, Patricia Ann Ward; two brothers; Rene ÒBubbyÓ Emile Terral, Jr. and William McBride. Mrs. Allen was a member of the Slidell High 50 year club since 1996 and chair- woman since 2007. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Laporte, Dakotah Radabaugh, David Rawson, Wally Parker, Rene ÒBoogÓ Terral, III, and Jim McBride. Honorary Pallbearer is Beckett Rawson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services. Services at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, LA on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. until funeral time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in memory of Mildred T.
