Howard Augustus Pence passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2014.

He was the beloved husband of almost 60 years to the late Julia Swenson Pence. 

Born and raised in Texas, Mr. Pence worked until his retirement for 
Gulf/Chevron Oil Co. 
His work took him to places as far as Nigeria, finally living for his remaining 
years in New Orleans and Covington. 

Wherever he found himself, he was always active in the local Baptist church. 

Howard will be remembered for his love of God, sacred music and most especially 
his family.

He is survived by a sister, Verna Pence Levins, his daughter and son and their 
spouses, Drs. Laura Pence Hogue and Charlie, and Jay and Julie Pence. His 
grandchildren, Stephen, Amanda and Katie Hogue and Emily Hogue Holladay, and 
Tyler and Kevin Pence, and Dr. Leslie Pence Samardzija will dearly miss him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. 
Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, June 
30, 2014 at 11:00 AM with visitation on Monday beginning at 9:30 AM. 

Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
