He was born on Tuesday, January 29, 1946 in Holyoke, MA to J.C. "Chunky" Wilfert and Clara Marie Leonards Wilfert. The beloved husband of Theresa Zimmer Wilfert for over 18 years, he is survived by his mother; one son - James Clayton "Clay" Wilfert; and three sisters - Paula Winzer, Marian Beauchamp and Lee Nevitt. He was preceded in death by his father and his former wife and mother to his son Ð Rita Clair Thenhaus Wilfert. Leonard was a dedicated parishioner at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church during the 24 years he lived in Lake Charles, LA and at Our Lady of the Lake after moving to Mandeville and recently moved to Folsom and belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Throughout his life's spiritual journey, he was loyal in attendance at daily Mass and Eucharistic Adoration, active in the Knights of Columbus, Olivetan Benedictine Prayer Group, Bible Study, and Confirmation Preparation. He not only challenged himself daily to grow spiritually, but also on an intellectual and personal level as well. A graduate with Bachelor's Degrees from both LSU and McNeese State, he received his MBA in Accounting from the Univ. of Phoenix in 2005 and was a candidate member of the LCPA Society and CEO of Wilfert Accounting Services. He worked for J.C. Wilfert Co. for 30 years prior to receiving the MBA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte Street Mandeville, LA 70448. Visiting hours at the CHURCH on Thursday will begin at 10:00 AM with Rosary at 11:30 AM. Interment with the Catholic Rites of Committal will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 27, 2014 at St. George Catholic Church Cemetery in Baton Rouge, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mother of the Redeemer Monastery, 168 Monastery Lane, Opelousas, LA ===================
