Born in Hammond, Louisiana, on June 29, 1927, she was valedictorian of her Hammond High School graduating class before earning a degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and working part time in medical administration while being a full time mom. She and her family lived in Franklinton and Baton Rouge before moving to Mandeville in 2002. Joyce never met a stranger, always striking up a conversation with everyone she met along the way. Even in her last days, she was sweet and funny with everyone around her; her sense of humor never waned. Joyce and her beautiful smile will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her. Active and involved until her illness, she was a proud founding member of the Pierre de Mandeville chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a regular at ChristwoodÕs Bible study classes. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Covington. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 64 years, Ellis C. Magee; daughter and son-in-law Janet Fabre Smith and Larry Smith; daughters Melanie Dixon and Marsha OÕBrien; and son and daughter-in-law Steven and Sherryl Magee. She was also a beloved grandmother to Alicia Magee and Victoria and Grace Dixon and preceded in death by her parents Dolly and Clinton Randall of Hammond, Louisiana. A memorial service will be held at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West. 21st Avenue in Covington, LA on Saturday, July 12 at 11:00 a.m.; visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christwood Support Foundation (100 Christwood Blvd, Covington, 70433) or Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Covington, ===================
