She was 93 years young and an angel that will surely be missed here on earth. Anna was the daughter of the late Sebastien Roy, Jr and Caroline Schiebert. She was the beloved wife of the late Phillip Bertram Ribbeck, and the adoring mother of the late Keith Joseph Ribbeck. She is survived by her seven loving children: Carol ÒCukieÓ Weaver (Emile, deceased); Sue Wagner (Paul); Anne Pratt (George); Lisa Lyons (Robert); Phil Ribbeck Jr (Jill); Larry Ribbeck (Valli); Kenny Ribbeck (Donna); as well as 37 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, cousins, wonderful neighbors and devoted friends. Anna was a native of New Orleans, born on May 26 1921. She was a graduate of Tulane UniversityÕs College of Art and Architecture. She worked for Higgins and Consolidated during World War II as a lofts man and drafter. Anna married her childhood sweetheart on January 18, 1944. During the war, they lived in Oregon and Washington State, where Phil was stationed with the Army Corp of Engineers. After the war, they returned to New Orleans where Phil began work for Esso and Anna continued raising their expanding family. In the 1960Õs, Phil, Anna and their family moved to Memphis, Tennessee where they lived for 12 years. In Memphis, Anna had her own TV show, the ÒPlant DoctorÓ, modeled for GoldsmithÕs, the largest department store in town, and participated in numerous clubs and organizations. 1976 brought the Ribbecks back to Louisiana, where they settled in Covington. Anna joined The Newcomers Club, several garden clubs, the Altar Society of her church, and played the jolly, happy Santa at Christmas time for many nursing homes, business parties and get-togethers. Anna was a Real Estate Agent for 28 years and finally fulfilled her ambition to become a Master Gardener at age 89! Anna wrote articles on gardening and plants for Sophisticated Woman and Inside Northside. Her poetry has been published in The National Society of Poetry. She also enjoyed writing letters to the editors of many newspapers. All throughout her life, art-sculpting and painting filled her spare moments. Over the last two years, Anna became known as ÒThe Oyster ArtistÓ because of her new hobby of hand painting scenes of New Orleans, swamps and mementos of her family on oyster shells. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and Mass at Most Holy Trinity Church, 4465 Hwy 190 East Service Road, Covington, LA on Saturday, August 2, 2014. Visitation will begin at the Church at 10:00am, followed by Mass at 11:00am. There will be a ÒCelebration of AnnaÕs LifeÓ at BenedictÕs Plantation immediately following the Mass from Noon to 2:00pm. Please bring your happy memories. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery. Anna requested that donations be made to Covenant House in New Orleans in lieu of flowers. ===================
