James Oliver Williams, Jr., 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, on July 6, 2014, after a brief battle with cancer. J.O., as he was known to his family and friends, was born the beloved son of the late James Oliver Williams, Sr., and the late Lettie Martin Cooper, on April 19, 1939. He was born in Bogalusa and was a resident of Covington for the past 61 years. James is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Bobbie Jean Harry Williams. He was the father of James Robert (Jimbo) Williams (Jimmie Lee), Moleta Mowen (Kirk), and Jamie Burke (Ian). James had six grandchildren: James Scott Williams (Cheri), Christopher Mowen, Brandi Mowen, Jacie Williams, Maggie Pierson, and Amber Burke. He also had three great-grandchildren: Baylin Williams, Breanne Williams, and Bryce Williams. James is preceded in death by his step-father, James Robert Cooper, and his half-brother, Gregory Loren Cooper. James served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Veteran of the United States Army Reserve National Guard. He was employed by CLECO for over forty years. He was also an active member of First Baptist Church of Covington. He volunteered for Mother's Day Out, Vacation Bible School, and was a greeter for worship services. He was a former member of the Kiwanis International of Covington, Abita Young Men's Club, Robert H. Burns American Legion Post 16, Pine Island Hunting Club, Planning and Zoning Commission of Covington, Parks and Recreation Commission of Covington, the C.C.C.A, the N.R.A., Bayou Bass Busters, and the Louisiana Sportsmen's League. With a great passion for living, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and LSU football. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Covington, 16333 Highway 1085 Covington, LA 70433. Visiting hours at the church Tuesday will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington, LA will follow services. ===================
