COOK SR, 91, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014, in Slidell. Beloved Husband of the late Verna Cook; Father of James A. Cook Jr., Robert A. Cook, Michael J. Cook; step-father of Kenneth LaBorde, Marilyn Willis, Gene LaBorde, Gail LaBorde, Gorden LaBorde, Thomas LaBorde, Henry Morgan and William Morgan; Son of the late Andrew and Flora Cook; Brother of the late David Cook and Andrew Cook Jr.; Also survived by 31 grandchildren and 51 great- grandchildren. A native of Monroe, Louisiana, a former resident of New Orleans, and a resident of Slidell since 1988. Mr. Cook was a retired bus driver with the New Orleans Public Service; a member of Theodore Roosevelt Lodge 415, F&AM, and New Orleans Scottish Rite Consistery, The American Legion and VFW. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, a survivor of Pearl Harbor, and a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. Funeral Services will be held at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm, and on Thursday at the funeral home after 9:00am. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in New Orleans.
