Melwin Steven Zeringue passed away at his home in Slidell, LA, surrounded by 
his loving family and friends on Monday, 8/18/14, at the age of 73. 

Mel was a native of Waggaman, LA and a long-time resident of Slidell. He 
retired from his career as a program analyst for the USDA's National Finance 
Center after 43 years. He was also a US Army veteran.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, his clever humor and 
selfless nature will be greatly missed by all. As well as being a father of 
three and a grandfather of 5, he readily assumed the role of father to two of 
his grandsons and was called "Dad" and "PawPaw" by many who loved him dearly.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Kathleen Luc Zeringue, his 
daughters Dana Zeringue Lodes (Jim), Stephanie Zeringue Bastoe (Mike), and Leah 
Zeringue. Grandfather of Elizabeth Lodes, Gabriel Zeringue, Jonah Zeringue, 
Michael Bastoe III, and Dominic Zeringue. Son of the late Steven A. Zeringue 
and Lelia Faucheux Zeringue. Brother of the late Steven Zeringue Jr, the late 
Harris Zeringue, Myrle Z. Lozes, the late Emerson Zeringue, Lloyd Zeringue, the 
late Esther Z. Fontenot, Ray Zeringue, Howard Zeringue, and Dorothy Z. 
Krawczyk. He is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014, at 11:00am at Honaker 
Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, in Slidell. Friends may visit at the 
funeral home on Friday after 9:00am.

Burial will be in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell.
